ill start
i bought my 2002 f150 XLT 4.6 VIN W extended cab regular bed, 2wd automatic transmission a little over 2 years ago with 115k miles on it, im up to 145k now.
the only major problem i had was with the transmission. it would be in 2nd gear and before it shifted into 3rd it would rev WAY high, then SLAM into 3rd. cant remember what the parts name was. anywho got that fixed, replaced the spark plugs, transmission filter and fluid, thermostat antifreeze, converters, oxygen sensors, DPFE sensor, rear end fluid, and the cruise control disengage thing cuz it was leaking. i drive it easy, and pull alot of trailers around, when i changed the rear end fluid i used AMSOIL so i wouldnt have to worry about changing it again. change the oil every 3-4k miles when ever i get around to it.
this has been a GREAT truck, definantly better than my first 2,and i hope it stays that way

Bought my 2002 brand new with 13 miles on it. Now at 111,xxx miles and nothing major to repair\replace (knocks on wood). Sure, I've had to replace the normal things that have worn out as part of regularly schedule maintenance, but all in all this truck has been great. Most likely I will hold on to this truck for a long time. I am tempted by the new 2012 F150, possibly with the 6.2L
.
.
ah, i havent heard anything else about the 6.2...is the 2012 suppose to be the same bodystyle as the 2009? and 6.2 in the half ton? are the raptors suppose to be supercharged with the 6.2?
I'm not sure if the body style will be the same. I've heard that it will change slightly in 3 years but don't quote me on that. I've just heard rumors that the new 6.2 will be available in regular model F-150's in 2012, but that is all speculation at this point. I'm not sure about the Raptor, it's not appealing to me at all, so I honestly haven't even looked at what all is available with it.
Ya know, you just reminded me of one issue about my truck that is disappointing. I don't have the crack issue in my 2002, but my rear cab doors do have some rust on them at the bottom on the inside of the panel. It hasn't gotten too bad, but it was there after only 4 - 5 years.

no problems here, but both of my 03 screws are under 90k :o
you picked a solid truck.
They probably replaced the accumulator, and spring for the second gear shift you are talking about

and yea the raptor is ugly and idc one bit about it i was just curious, that would be nice to have a single cab 6.2 4x4
as long as its not like the eariler gen where there was a door about a food long that opened, holy hell that was stupid looking
I bought mine at 260,xxxkm now has 350,000+ km (to get miles just divide by 1.6).
-New pads and rotors front and rear
-U joints
-lower ball joints
-1 inner tie rod
-blower motor resistor
-full synthetic fluids throughout
-axle seals
-replaced motor with low mileage one for a lightning swap, but lost my job due to recession, went back to school, broke, need a job in new field. Old one still runs and is being used for a project
-cup holder
-all maintenance done like plugs, coils, pcv, front 02 sensors, etc.

Yep, power door locks go halfway up on the first try sometimes. FORD definitely has had electrical issues in the past. I have one tiny little notch of rust on my drivers door but that's it rust wise. Ive had sensor problems as well. Mines a '97 4.6L with over 260,000 miles so what do you expect? haha I love my truck though!
