1997 60/40 console compatibility question

I have a 1997 xlt supercab with the 60/40 gray cloth seats and I am wanting to replace my single cup holder console with one like in my 03 supercrew with 60/40 seats and the double cup holder. The supercrew console is shorter and does not stick out into the rear seat. I am wondering if anyone knows, or has done this, what would directly bolt in? Would a supercrew console be a direct swap? If I have to use another supercab console from 00-03 will they directly swap? What else would work. My 1997 console is in pretty good shape otherwise. The front of the cupholder where it meets the cloth does bulge out a bit. It is just below the lip where it turns down. It looks like it got smashed out a bit. I can push it back in but it won't stay flush. I thought about trying some glue and holding it in position for awhile to set. If I end up keeping it does anyone have a fix for keeping it flush?
Besides a salvage yard and ebay, any good places to buy consoles from?

Thanks,

MoJoWales

i got myself a 40/60 with since cup holder console from a 97 over the summer and mine is doing the same thing in the front but im not sure why and havent bothered to fix since its not too big an issue. i would imagine the console would be pretty much a direct fit. or you could just swap the seat out for a new one. the 99+ seats are a little wider on the sides than the 97-98 and may rub alittle on the door panels but not much. im not sure where you may find just a console since most people sell the seats whole, unless you find some one here that has recently cut the 60 portion and made 2 captains chairs

Thanks Jake,

I have noticed a few of the single cupholder consoles that bulge in front. Like you said, it is no big deal. I am more looking for the additional cup holder and not have the end extend into the back seats when down. I am just finishing re-doing this truck and the seats are a major reason why I bought it. They were dirty but in great shape. I took the front covers off and washed them in a bathtub with woolite. When I was done the truck looked like a two tone interior so I had to take it a step further and do the rears which led to the headliner... This was supposed to be a "knock around" but is at this moment in the paint shop. This might sound familiar to some of you. OCD about trucks I guess. Back on point, the seats look like new so it will have to be a console swap. I'd like to know if anyone has put the crewcab consoles in a supercab.

Thanks

MoJoWales

yea i know what you mean. i started with the seats and now im sitting here with a completely different and different looking truck.

i think you be hard pressed to find a console that matches the seats you got. you can do the expedition console swap if you want.

heres a link to a how to

Thanks Jake,

You are very right about finding just the console. Ebay has some of the early single cup holders listed but none of the doubles. Do you know if anyone has tried to put a crewcab console into a supercab or regularcab? I figure if I am going to go the expedition route then I might as well bite the bullet and go king ranch or other leather. By the way things are escalating I might end up doing it. I've already ended up with new AC pump, new wheel seals, shimmed the rear diff, general tune and checkup, new speakers, different factory radio, wheel moldings, mudflaps for the front, couple of dash pieces, re-did the headliner, blasted the frame and painted, new emblems, completely tore down the interior to just the steering column and detailed everything, new shifter, new vinyl steering wheel, fogs are in the mail, bed is off right now and it is getting painted two-tone. Still need an exhaust, some new decals, nerfs, bed stone guards, and put some real tires on it but I might call it a day after that. Famous last words. So much for just cleaning up a "knock around".

Nice work Jake!

I thought that you had cut the rear seat in half for a minute there. Looks great. Mine started off as a 97 xlt 4X4 with the manual transfer case. Got a good deal on it and it came with a topper. High miles on the 4.6 but mostly highway and well maintained. Had the one piece step board to wheel moldings and looked, well, not like I wanted it to.
I'll try to post some pictures of the start but I will have to look up how to do it. I have some camera pics on my computer.
The supercrew console is the type in 00-03 f150 supercrew 60/40 front seat that is a little bit shorter like the 00-03 supercab that has two cup holders. Quick measuring shows it to be the same width between the mounting arms.

you can look over my pictures there that show some of the differences in the seats and consoles. The seat on the supercrew actually has a bump that comes up under the console, so when the console is up the back of the middle seat is continuous if that makes sense
