Sorry for aother tire question...
This is a bit of a cross post from the tire and wheel forum, but no one replied there. I'm sorry for the cross post, but I'm going out of town later this week and would like to buy them before I leave.
I'll paraphrase...
I have a stock 2001 XLT 4x4, long bed, regular cab, 4.6L, 3.55 gears, heavy duty package with 255/70R16 on stock wheels, but they have terrible traction and I want to replace them before the upcoming hunting season and winter. Money being tight, I don't want to buy a lift kit or do anything that'll require re-gearing or anything else. I even want to keep the stock wheels.
I like what I've read about the GY DuraTrac tires, but they don't come in 255/70R16 and I wouldn't mind going somewhat bigger, again as long as it doesn't require any other changes.
Would 265/75R16 or even 285/75R16 work without modifications?
Could anyone with DuraTracs comment on them?
Thanks, Everyone.
Bruce

My Duratracs only have about 400 miles on them. No rain or snow yet. It is supposed to rain a bit this week, and I am anxious to test the wet weather performance. Everything I have read about them is good.
My observations so far...
Smooth riding. (sidewalls are very flexible)
Quiet, with a faint hum at low speed.
Great in mud, and clean out well.
Made in the USA
I will post about wet weather performance later in the week.

FYI
Goodyear and Treadlightly.org are offering a $100.00 mail in rebate on the purchase of 4 Wrangler tires when you become a treadlightly member. Subtract the membership fee of $25.00, that gives you $75.00 cash in pocket.
i think its a good deal.

ive put about 5k miles on mine. they are very quiet, you can barely hear them if you turn off your radio. ive tested them pretty harshly in the mud and they do awesome. to me theyre a perfect blend in between an all terrain and mud terrain. they ride really smoothly as well
