99+ Cluster Swap

has anyone here with a 99+ (digital odometer) swapped out their clusters?

i know you have to get the your trucks PATS system reflashed and your milage and all that jazz. but a junkyard cluster should work right?

the reason i ask is because the dealership i talked to last week 'swears' that i would have to order a brand new cluster that would have my mileage already programmed on to it or some b/s like that. i mean i talked to everyone in the service dept cus i figured the chick i was talking to didnt know what she was talking about..but everyone said the same thing, and the cluster alone (not including labor) was like $400+

so im kinda confused here

I don't think you'd have to find a brand new one - that's probably just the stealership doing what they do best, but there's one for sale in the classifieds for a good price - probably about what you'd pay in a yard.
