2001 F-150 Hesitation

Ok guys I have replaced the spark plugs in the truck when I bought it, because there was hesitation at the time. After doing the plugs the hesitation stopped until today, it is hesitation only when I push the accelerator.I am wondering if you guys have any clue as to what is the problem or any suggestions??? The truck has around 100k on the clock.

You may need one or more COP's. Did you use dielectric grease inside the COP boots when you changed the plugs, taking care not to get grease on the springs?

Also I ordered my coil packs too.

You don't have coil packs. The 5.4L's NEVER had them.

You have dedicated "Coils", - (508's) single/ 1 per cylinder = CoilOverPlug (COP) System.

"Coil packs" were on the older 4.6L's ~ Pack = In charge of more than one, or a pack of cylinders.

Question: as I now have a similar issue with my 2001 F150 5.4L with COPs, 153K miles, where I'm getting a P0303 code, which is a Cyl. #3 misfire.

I just ordered a new set of COPs from Global Automotive on eBay and some Motorcraft Denso plugs. When I go to replace these, and use dielectric grease inside the COP boots, is it the inside of the boot that attaches to the bottom of the COP itself where I put the dielectric grease? I want to make sure I only have to do this once! Is there a instructional procedure in the Forums someplace as I have not had a chance to look yet.

Also, I guess it would be good to let the engine warm up to check out the possibility of a leaking heater hose; there's not any indication of a leak but all of my hoses were replaced about 20K miles ago and there may be an issue.

Thanks for all of the knowledge everyone is dispensing to those of us that aren't as knowledgeable!

Did anyone solve there problem with these fixes?

I was towing my boat over the weekend and it started to hesitate around 1500rpm doing 55mph. If I gased it it went away but if I stayed steady on the throttle around 1500rpm it started to jug. I pulled the boat off and it still did the same thing.

Any help would be great. I heard replacing the plugs could become a pain is this true? (with it pulling out of the and stripping)

I had no problem with the passenger side, fairly straight forward. BUT, to get to the plugs n coils for the driver side, not so much:
1) remove power steering bracket
2) disconnect complete EGR system
3) unbolt and carefully lift up fuel rail

Wasn't that hard, just time consuming. Be Patient. Remember to torque down the new plugs
