4x Valence on a 2x

I have a 2000 Lariat 2wd and want to add fog lights and tow hooks to the front. What is involved in wiring for the fogs? any help would be appreciated, I plan to order on Friday.

Depending how far you are from a big city, check out Certifit Parts Distributor. They maily deal with body shops and collision repair places, but they are open to the public as well. I got my 4x4 valance from them for $27. You can't have it delivered though, only pickup.

If your lucky to have the your truck prewired, here are some pics to help you.

Hope this helps you man!

been there done that. mine was prewired, simple, just pull out the lil harness and bolt up the new valance and plug the lights in, dont forget to get a new light switch in the cab so you can turn them on.

you can also do the bambi mod (have fogs on with parking lights and brights with fogs).
so x2 on what dirty said.

how much is the new light switch? Where can i find one?

EDIT: So am I right to assume that the truck in those pictures was not pre-wired?? I don't see any wires near those holes on my truck. Though if they do pre-wire 2wds for fogs I would think my Lariat would have it. It has EVERY option lol

My fogs were plugged in and working in those pictures. You can see the harnesses in the corner of some if the pics. Yours should be prewired, but then again, it's the the luck of the draw. I've heard of mutiple people withoutthe prewired fogs.

If all else fails, wire them up by themselves, that way you can have them on whenever you want.

They're on a separate harness from the lights. If you just crawl under your truck to where you'd be installing the fogs, you should see it if you have it. It will just be a connector ziptied to your truck. My '02 v6 reg cab xlt had it, but my '03 supercab xlt 4.6 did not. I don't know what makes some have it and some not - maybe the plant they were built at? Idk...but I've heard of some XLs having harness already there, so I don't think it has anything to do with what package you have.

damn, I will keep looking. I have been researching why some trucks have it and some do not, but no one seems to be able to explain it. Thanks for all your help guys, I'll let you know how it goes

Well, I cant seem to find any pre-wiring, I have reached my hand into that hole in the picture, and tried to follow the wiring for the horn/headlights up to feel for the fog connector to no avail. I will keep looking, but it seems like you guys are saying its pretty obvious to see and either you have it or you dont. In my case, I think I don't. I just ordered my Fog lights and the valance off of ebay, so hopefully they will be here early next week so that I can wire them up, unless I find the connectors somewhere.

Anyone know where I can find Tow-hooks. I have looked on ebay, but it seems no one makes any aftermarket tow hooks??, and there is only one pair on ebay for like 60 bux. Seems a little pricey but maybe its just me.

just keep lookin for them tow hooks. I was in the same boat. they all were too expensive to just put on the front and get dirty. so I waited and found a pair of 97-03 tow hooks, 30 shipped from a guy who put a body lift on and it wouldnt look right with those hooks so he replaced them with GM hooks.

and your prolly not drilled for hooks, mine wasnt so I just torched holes in and mounted them. you got holes for hooks?

probably not. Can you drill them? or do you need to torch them?

Not pre-drilled for hooks?

I must have one of those rare XL Sports that was pre-wired and pre-drilled.

I did get the aforementioned valance w/tow hooks and fog openings from Certifit, but I've not gotten around to bothering with tow hooks yet.
