It depends what year 4.6L. Before 2000 they didn't reach peak torque until you hit 4000 rpm.

97,98,99 and 2000. In 2001 they went to PI heads for the 4six. The 5four went PI in 99.

I think he was asking about the 4.2s...the 97s and 98s had bad head gaskets, which caused "hydrolocking" to happen. '99 and later 4.2l motors are rock solid in terms of reliability.

Bad lower intake manifold gaskets, not bad head gaskets.

I had read from different stat websites that the 4.6 is good for building up the total #'s as in HP, Torque @ low rpms, etc.. Since I'm new here, I think you gentlemen would know and where would you start at so the add on won't be a waste before adding the next part(s).

that's right...I knew it was a gasket, but couldn't remember which one lol.
