Picked up my 99 Supercab today
Thanks for all the replys... but I might have been screwed on this truck. The coolant reservoir was empty, so I filled it up. Since then I have started hearing gurgling in the heater core, and after my truck was driven 20 miles today, I stopped and heard the system had high pressure and made squeeling noise as it relieved pressure. Searching the site says I may have a head gasket problem... I hope this isn't he case. With air in the system, would this cause excessive pressure? And if so, how would I bleed the air out of the system?
post a pic, and show em. My stock headlights and fogs were oxidized and foggy. The lightning headlights and Depo foglights are crystal clear.
looks good!
as for the heater core, it usually will trap air unless the system is purged. Just keep an eye on the coolant level after you get the air out and make sure the truck isnt eating any coolant, suggesting headgasket leak.
fill up the reservoir and squeeze the upper and lower radiator hoses (cool engine of course) and you should be able to see bubbles coming up in the bottle. Keep squeezing on and off until the bubbles stop. If it still holds air you might take it to a shop and have them do a vacuum fill on the system.

Yea, looks allot nicer.
Here's something from Ford Service that may come in handy -

Look toward the fill procedure to Bleed out or Burp the system.

I did however find 3 needle bearings the size of a tip of a pen in the transmission pan, along with a bunch of other metal shavings during my fluid change. The metal shavings is perfectly normal... but the needle bearings are definitely a concern. Hopefully whatever bearing they fell out of is tied to reverse.... so I have a while before it completely goes out. Shifts great for now, so I have my fingers crossed.
