I have continuous door ajar message on dash. I am thinking broken switch on driver side. Previous owner removed dome lamp because 12 volts won't switch off.
My question is how to get to the switch. Maybe remove emergency brake assembly and rubber seal behind door stop arm location?
It is on a 97 F150, 4.2L, 2WD, Automatic

spray the door latch with WD40...worked with mine.

 

Do what ebxgsxt said the switch is in the latch and that trick worked for me to.
