If you are running the 4.6L V8 engine then I would say yes, but if you are running the 5.4L then you don't have to. But you WILL notice a drop in power. If you go with 36" tires, you WILL need to regear. I am running on 38's and am running 4.56 gears.

Give us some more info on you truck. I.E... Motor size and most important what size gears are you running now?

I would leave it like it is if you go any bigger than 35s in the future then I would think about new gears.

A lot depends on how you use your truck and the powertrain. I am running 35's with the OEM 3.55 gears and I have the 5.4 engine. I'm satisfied with the performance, however I don't do any heavy towing/hauling. If I did I would have to regear.

if you want more power out of the hole, consider upgrading to 4.10s. ive got them on my 03 5.4L with my 305/55/20 wheels and i noticed a huge difference from the stock 3.55

I hate my 33" tire 5.4L 3.73 combo. I'd like 4.56 for any LT 33-35" tire, maybe 4.88 for 35". As wandell said, different people have drive differently.

I going to say you guys are nuts for not gearing. I got my truck with 5.4,35's and 3:55 gears. Drove it for a year like that, couldn't do a brake stand to save my life, had to be dirt. Hell my old ladys Explorer would walk me from a stop light and it wasent till about 50 that I could catch her, about the time I shifted to 2nd. And any little hill at 75 in I had to downshift out of OD. And trying to pull my toybox was a compleat joke, and getting the toybox is why I regeared.

So I put 4:56's, on the drive home from the shop I had to get out and make sure I was driving my truck!!! Holy crap what a diff, now brake stands are easy, can smoke the hell out of both. Oh yah and the Explorer deal? I am a full truck infront of her befor we hit the crosswalk on the other side of the light. And I can hold OD at 65 pulling the toybox.

So I say put gears, worth every penny of the $1250 it cost me.

And one more thing, 4x4Low was not low. I would have to ride the brake in 1st for the real ruff stuff cuz it just was too fast. Now 4x4Low is low, just crawls like it should.

Me personally say regear... neccessary NO

you will enjoy the extra pep and you can sleep alittle easier knowing your transmission isnt on its last life.

you need to go with 4.56's or even 4.88's

Im running 5.38's and can white smoke 40's with a 4.2L
