Transmisson trouble?

i noticed my truck hesitates when i put it in gear so i checked the fluid and it was dry it doesnt leak so why would it have no fluid the distick is clean so its not burnt taht i know of any ideas?? its a 2003 fx4 automatic with a 5.4

I bet you will find the transfer case is overfilled - there's a seal between the tranny and transfer case that likes to leak.

I had to replace the seal bettween the transfer case and tranny. I had the dealership do it and only cost about 130.00. Its good as new now, no disapearing tranny fluid.
