so i just did the gotts mod and i got a question. on my 97 4.6 i noticed the outside diameter of the filter housing was just under three inches so that being said, my joint which was a three inch, was quite big. is there a later model housing with a bigger opening because i dont see this problem with any others i see?

 

when you read the "how to" the last couple posts address this issue and several people have swapped in the newer filter cover piece as it's a direct swap
