Radiator fluid

I'm gonna chance the coolant on my 2004 heritage. It calls for Motorcraft gold. Any other brands that are just as good?

Use the green stuff, you'll be ok. I would recommend going to the quick oil change and have them use the flush machine. The 69 bucks and no mess is well worth it.

If you switch from gold to green, it has to be completely flushed. You shouldn't mix the 2 types.

I haven't been able to find the gold anywhere. I'm sure it would be really expensive from the dealer.

Use ONLY gold color coolant in Ford products. Zerex G-05 coolant is available at Napa auto stores for about $13 gal.

All the stores now sell a coolant that claims to be compatible with all the long life coolant.

Just do NOT use GM Dexcool. That stuff is nasty.

Standard green stuff is fine as long as you flush all the other stuff out, and you put it on a more frequent change schedule.

This is another reason to go to the oil change shop and let them worry about it. Once you have a flush done at the oil change shop you wont do it yourself again

Their are a few companies that make the ford gold/yellow. Unless you complatly flush out your system stick with whatever color you have. I would also remcomend that if you take it some where don't go to a quick lube place but an acctual shop where they have more serius techs not just some kids trying to make it through life.
