4WD light stuck on

I have a 00 f150 5.4 floor 4x4 shifter. Showed my buddy how easy the shifter was now after we replaced it.

After the replaced i have used 4x4 before towing the boat out of the water. went in fine light on put it in 2HI light off.

Now when i showed my buddy i put it in 4x4 light on back in 2wd light stays on 4x4 is not in.

Why will the light not shut off?

Their could be an issue with your 4wd system and you might want to get it checked.

It could really be anything but it could also be nothing, have you tried it again since? that might be the next best step.

this could be a sighn on your 4wd shift sensor going bad, i have the 4wd lever on the floor and mine did the same thing for a few months, then when i put it in 4wd one day even though i would take it out of 4wd to 2wd it stayed in 4wd and the light stayed on, the dealership found my 4wd shift sensor was bad.
