I have a 99 F150 4x4 regular cab short bed 4.2L v6
I need to know what the GVWR is and whats the amount of weight for just cargo, gas, and passangers. Anywhere i can get this info.
i need to have my weight bumped up to a higher amount but i have to give them it in GVWR form.
I need my truck to weigh in at 5,500 pounds so im thinkin my GVWR needs to be around 7,000 pounds. but i dont know exactly.
i was told you dont even need a weight slip to do this. Just go down to the registration office and tell them what you need and they will change it.

Four Wheel Drive Models: base series:
Passenger Volume (cu. ft.) No Data No Data No Data No Data
Standard Towing (lb.) 1900 1900 2900 2900
Maximum Towing (lb.) 7900 6800 6700 6700
Standard Payload (lb.) 1605 1780 1440 1635
Maximum Payload (lb.) 1660 1840 1550 1725
Cargo Volume (cu. ft.) No Data No Data No Data No Data
Maximum GVWR (lb.) 6300 6300 6500 6500
so according to those numbers my truck only weighs in at around 4400 pounds? am i missing something. If thats the case then i need my GVWR to be around 7,300-7,500 to make the vehicle wheight 5,500 pounds

4400 sounds about right. I had mine weighed on certified truck scales at a local truckstop and with just me, full tank of gas and no other cargo in the truck at all my 2wd 97 reg cab came in at just over 4200.
Just wondering why do you need the truck to weigh that much?

FL law states that vehicles with the shipping weight of 5k pounds or more are not required by law to have bumpers, therefor theres no way to say what the maximum heigth to the bottom of the bumper is. The head lights cant be anymore than 54" from the ground to the center of the head light
i know changing my weight isnt exactly perfect option,
First: not only is it not shipping weight but really if theres no door sticker and the registration GVWR is the only thing to go by thats what they will use. They will just subtract the cargo weight and get the curb weight.
Second: My registration price goes up. But really that will pay for itself so i dont get a bunch of tickets. Or have to lower the truck down.
GVRW has more to do with the capabilities of the vehicle of the suspension and the brakes etc
There isnt really a set spread sheet of percentages for coming from curb weight and GVRW. Because generally a 2 passenger sports car wont have but about 600 pound difference between the two.
A general rule of thumb that the manufacturer determines the figures by is 200lb person, and 50 lbs of cargo per person per seat.
So a 6 passenger minivan with a curb weight of 4000 should have a GVRW around 5500. Trucks are a little different because of the factor of adding payload into the equation but you get the idea.

Just get some 1/4" Plate steel, make a pair of custom bumpers like my Black 4x4 has and weigh it, if not heavy enough get some 1/4" thick 2 7/8" tubing/pipe and make a roll bar (2 or 3 roll's with double downs should do it
lol just an idea.

lol just an idea.
yeah the GVWR has really nothing to do with lift height laws. But thats the only weight on my registration.
so there for they take my GVWR and subtract the maximum payload from it and get as close to the Curb weight as possible.
And Phoenix ill be making bumpers eventually, but that takes some time (specially the way im designing them) I need something to take effect almost immediately.
Dont know how many people have seen my build thread but my truck is OBVIOUSLY over lift laws just by lookin at it driven down the road. Im not worried about local Officers im more worried about the area i have to drive though to get home, they are strict on lift laws

Right now at the weight my truck is now, my law is
a vehicle from 3,000-5,000 pounds max bumper height is 28 front 30 rear.
but there is no bumper laws over 5k pounds.
head light laws dont go by weight, its a straight no headlights over 54" from the center of the lens to the ground
ahh i see, i probably overlooked that in your posts previous... gonna be a hell of a challenge to do it but you mentioned in your build thread you were using 1ton axles/differentials? that should aid your cause as well, being from a higher payload vehicle. AS for gross weight, just accumulating weight through your heavy bumpers, possibly heavy side steps and roll bars as well? Have not zoomed through your build for a while, will look and if anything else comes to mind you'll hear more from me :P lol.
well supposedly i can change the weight of my vehicle without a weight slip.
I know my truck is VERY close to 5k pounds if not more.
Once the bumper, roll cage (inside cab), rock sliders, transferr cases, and diesel power plant goes in ill be WELL over the 5k and probably closer to 5,700. Plan on beefin up the frame as well so that will add weigth too.
