id go w/ like a 12k winch.

ur truck weights around 6k lbs. 1.5 would only put you at 9k lb winch and thats to small for your truck. samurai's and jeeps use that size. the rule i hear alot of people use is double and then go up to the next size.

I've heard about a 9000 lb winch would do. By the way how are you going to mount it?

we used an 8,000lbs wintch from tractor supply co. to pull out a very very stuck ford excurtion with a V-10 weghts about 8,500 lbs we double lined the wintch and it pulled it out slowly but surely.

also if i were you id look into getting the 200amp alternator we used the wintch on the front of a 98 F-150 with the 130amp and the truck didnt like that one bit.

if an 8,000lbs can pull out an excurtion i think 9,000lbs would be plenty for ya but its your call....and im kinda wondering were your gonna mount it too.....

Warn has a semi hidden mount that bolts up to our tow hook bolts. Debated on this option for me but with a grill guard don't know how well it would fit, but if you don't have one this would be a good option

like 4x4wolf said, warn has a semi hidden kit, looks pretty good. i use the warn 9.5ti with one battery, i can definitely tell one battery struggles on some of the hard pulls and the stock alternator. get an auxiliary battery too and you'll be ok with their 9.5t i bet.

yea i was thinking atleast 1.5x because there is going to be resistance from the mud. i dont know exactly how, but my grandfather is one hell of a welder, so i was just going too fab something up if i didnt get a B-Gaurd soon,
i was going to go with a 10500, but i am kinda leanig to a 8k by smittybuilt if they are a good brand cuz warn is kinda expensive but i know they are a awesome company. here is the overview of the smitty built

WinchLine Pull: = 8000 lbs.Voltage: = 12VMotor: = 5.5 hpRemote Control: = 12 Ft. i honestly dont think a 8k lb will be much good. PM mercedestech and ask him what he thinks, he will probly say atleast a 12k winch. a smaller winch will be working much harder to pull your truck out.

my only prob is if 10k isnt enough then i am sitting on a winch that wont do me any good. Also i was wondering if they were a good brand, but with 10k i could snatchblock it if my memory serves me corect it is like 2x your pull.
IDK

12k nothing less.

you can get away with something smaller and a ****** block but why? stronger winch = less stress which = longer life of the unit.

my truck will have a 16.5 but my truck weighs ALOT more than yours

yea i kind of figured that, a buddy of mine with a K-5 Blazer that has 35X12.5 was saying that he was going to buy a 6k and i thought to myself your truck weighs that much with a 1/4 tank of gas, and that he should go with atleast a 10k, but i wasnt sure. But i want a winch now cuz my buddy got his 99 exploder stuck to the runniig boards, and i broke his frame where the tow hook goes into the frame, i was going to hook into his rear but i though not with the way today has been going
Thanx for the info and guidance, and keep it coming
