Weird Noises
Weird Noises
Ok my 2000 F150 4x4 just hit 100,000 miles and now I'm hearing some weird noises. I replaced my front rotors and brakes and got rid of most of the noises (and greatly inproved my breaking
) but theres two noises that I can figure out what they are. First sounds like driver side front and at slower speeds it sounds like theres a piece of paper stuck on my tire (theres not I looked) but it makes that kind of sound as the tire goes around again at slow speeds (15 mph or less) next sound sounds like driver side rear and again at low speeds it sounds like a marble in a tin can and the sound is consistant depending on my speed. Any ideas?

On a 4x4, the front hub/bearing is a sealed assembly and can't be repacked. I've only heard one of these fail, and it would make a high-pitched whirring noise at driving speeds when it warmed up.
Regarding the paper-stuck-on-the-tire noise, have you checked the CV boots and rotating parts between the front wheel and the front diff? If you put that wheel in the air and turn it by hand will it make the noise?
Does it make the same noise in 2wd and 4wd? How about when brakes are applied lightly vs. heavily and not at all?
