Swap my Scab for a Screw
Swap my Scab for a Screw
What a tough choice that is facing me...i found a 2002 F150 XLT Crewcab 4x4 5.4L black ext. w/ 170,000 miles for $6500. I was not even looking but a local friend bought this truck yesterday pretty much to sell and he told me I could have it for what he paid. That's about $2500 below KBB. i want a screw and this is the best deal i think I'll find but i love my 97 scab w/ 208,000. I feel like i shouldn't let this deal pass. What guys out there have went from scab to screw and not regretted it? I just need some advice to help me decide.
i wanted to make the change, but i couldnt find a screw in the price range that i wanted to saty. or with the options i wanted. i didnt want to lose the options i had on my scab, just to add 2 more doors. i wish i did, but i never found one.
If its just you I wouldn't get a SCrew but if you have kids [teenage as I do] they are great.
Thanks guys for the input. I found out even better news since the post...this guy w/ the truck bought this truck at an auction. He's in with a local dealer and goes to the auctions. He said he might not sell this truck now but I can go with him to the auction and pick out what I want and pay what he pays. Now when I get ready for a truck, I can get what I want and cost. I'll prolly be looking for a screw soon.
Dude, your current truck is sweet. You can see why I would like it. But if I were you I would go for it. In the four years I have had my truck, I have found that I haul people more than things, so I too would like a crew cab. The one you found is newer, bigger, and has less miles and more features. And it's still a 4x4.
However, keep in mind the maintenance costs. For example, I just spent a good deal of money replacing my shocks and upper and lower ball joints. I'd hate to get a new truck and have to turn around and do that all over again. It's a tough decision, man.
Although I also want a crew cab, I will always prefer the look of the exteded cab. It's gonna be a sad day when I have to let go of my truck, but if you can let go of yours, go for it.
