2000 F-150 4.6L will not start....
I have been searching through a lot of the old threads on this forum and can not find an answer to my problem... so let me ask a question, as stated above, I have a 2000 F-150 4.6L 4X4 that will not start after it has been run for a while, the engine will turn over but not start, acts like its is not getting fuel or fire. I have noticed that the above trouble "only" occurs after the truck has been setting for a while. The truck will start immediately it you shut the truck off and then start it right back up. I have also noticed that when the trouble does occur, the digital mileage gauge has all dashes, and the flashing theft light flashes with more intensity. I originally suspected my key, so I tried my spare factory key and get the same results. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
From another thread:
You can swap it with the fuel pump relay as a test.
Sounds like the PCM power relay has taken a crap. I have been seeing this alot at work (Ford dealer service department). Fast flashing PATS indicator and odometer full of dashes means that the HEC is not recognizing the PCM. Check the PCM power relay. The easiest way to do this is to either tap on it with a screwdriver handle until it works, or swap it with another relay from the fuse panel.
Just a tip-been seeing many of them lately.
