Changing my fuel filter.

A.) what kind of things should i do for prep, becasue all the fuel that is goin to run out is the fuel between the pump and injectors right, so do i just let it run or do i close off both lines and replace the filter.
B.) Who wants to see this 150k old oem filter and what comes out of it.

I just done mine, 195,xxx on my 1999 and still getting 16-18 MPG. I run injector cleaner thru less than half a tank. When I changed mine, I had very little lost fuel and the swap was a snap. I have never changed an injector and still runs like 1999!

Be sure to click on Technical Articles at the top of the page. You'll find a great walk thru on the procedure.

As for me, I've changed mine a few times. I bought the tool to release the clamps, but had to grind off the side quite a bit to get the clearance I needed. The bracket can be a PIA and wear eye protection.
Good luck

I recommend the OEM fuel filter. I have used other brands before. When it is time to replace an aftermarket one, they just don't seem to release as easily as the original.

I changed the fuel filter on mine after 180,000 miles and I got a little black "junk" to come out of it.
Safe to say it was time for a new filter.
I didnt really get that much fuel running out of the lines though, with the pump not running its only going to let so much fuel out.
I went with a Napa fuel filter. From what I understand, Napa buy their parts from the same suppliers that the automakers use, they just put it in a Napa box and the box said "MADE IN USA" on it.

NAPA filters are generally decent. Their oil and air filters are made by WIX.
