97 f-150 rust problems

97 f-150 rust problems
i just purchased a 97 4.6 extcab 4x4 f-150 for $1900. For that price i knew it would need a tuneup (muffler might need a tune and one manifold needs replacing evtually.
but today i was driving in town, first day with it and a brake line broke, so i took it to a shop and they said it broke cause of rust and that i shouldnt have bought it. its fairly rusty, mostly below and theres a little bit on the box. the 4x4 light on the dash also flickers on for a sec once in while and when i first start it..its really loud for the first 5 mins driving.
Pretty much i dont know anything about vehicles and would just like some advice on if its worth fixing or if i should take it back to the dealership. thanks!

you paid $1900 for a 1997 truck and you didn't look at it at all????
I don't think you can return it and if you can't it'd wise to do a lot of TLC and POR 15 the enttire frame and suspension (pull it all out and do it right)
