Mine was doing the same thing, it would blow out of the defrost, but not vents. It started out as a small problem, it would come and go. Then it finally got to the point were it would only blow out the defrost. I checked for vacuum leaks and finally had my mech to check it out. Found out that this was happening quite a bit with the Lariats because the solenoids in Electronic Climate Control units were going bad. That is what happened to mine. Ford does not sell the solenoids, just the complete unit. Thank goodness that I had an extended warranty, it cost about $600 2 years ago

I would go ahead and check for any vacuum leaks just in case!

good luck

We checked the lines that come into the backside of the unit, inside the cab

I believe there's a way to do an electronic self-test of the unit. You need to browse the HVAC forum.
