Need advice about a friend's truck.

I posted this in the Other Powertrain section but haven't gotten any replie's so I thought maybe some of the member's here could help. My friend has got to be the hardest person i've ever met on a vehicle. His current truck is an 01 4x4 Lariat with the 4.6v8. This past weekend he got drunk and decided to go mud bogging in a mud hole in front of our work. Before he got started this mud hole only had about six inches of water in it and when he got done he was sitting on the frame and water was coming inside his truck. With all four tire's not touching the ground he decides to entertain our coworker's by sitting their for about five minute's in 4wd high and the pedal to the floor shooting a rooster tail of water about 20 foot into the air. He finally give's up on getting out and has a coworker that also has an 01 4x4 F150 pull him out. Well talking to him at work earlier he tell's me that his truck was broke down and ask's me if I knew what could be wrong and all I could do was point at the mud hole and laugh saying that's your problem right their. Anyway's he say's that he was driving down the road and he heard a big pop and his truck just died. He crank's it back up and when he put it in drive it wouldn't move and all that was turning was his drive shaft. He figure's that since his girlfriend only live's about 2 mile's away that he could just slowly drive it to her house in 4wd. After about a hundred yard's he said that something just locked up and now his truck won't move. It run's but when you put it in drive it just bog's down and won't turn the tire's. He had to call her dad to tow him to their house. He said that by taking it out of 4wd and putting the tranny in neutral that all four tire's will turn. Can anyone have an idea what may have happened. I'm sure that his problem with the rear end is that he stripped his ring or pinion gear by rocking his truck back and forth in the mud hole without giving the tire's time to stop spinning. The 4wd problem I was thinking maybe something to do with his transfer case. I haven't gotten the chance to look at his truck yet so I can't really say yet. So far this will be the second rear end he has broken he has torn the tranny up once, broke a timing chain and burnt up his engine also. The transfer case and front differential so far is the only thing that he hasn't broken. He's my best friend but I call him an idiot alot for some of the stupid crap he has done. Now he say's that this truck is a peice of crap! I wonder why. He also said that he's gonna trade it in for a Toyota once he get's it fixed. I couldn't help but laugh at that statement. Thanks everyone!

To be honest with you I hope he does either get a Toyota or Chevy cause all of the chevy owner's at work love using his truck as an example when they start talking crap about ford's being a peice of junk. I want him to prove to them that anything will break when you drive something like he does. I rode in his truck the day before it broke down and it was sad seeing all of the mud on the door panel's and dash. You can't tell their's even carpet on the floor board's cause it's covered in mud. The bed has a hole ripped in the side about 16 inches long from where he's jackknifed a trailer. The passenger side mirror is ripped off. The front valence is held onto the bumper with ratchet strap's and clothe's hanger wire. The bed probably has 20 pound's of beer can's thrown in the back. And he's notorious for changing his oil every 10,000 mile's. Let's just say he's destructive and an idiot!

Yea that's what I was thinking also. The first rearend he tore up he literally made the pinion gear look like it never had teeth on it when he get's stuck he start's rocking the truck back and forth and not let the tire's stop spinning before trying to go from reverse to drive or vis versa. It's sad looking at picture's of that truck the day he brought it home. The pretty tan leather seat's are black now and ripped to peice's. Half of the time you can't tell his truck is white cause it's covered in mud. Thanks!
