need headlight help!

im searching online but not having much success here

the previous owner of my 99 f150 put Lightning headlights on it. i remember calling him and asking him why it had no highbeams. he said something to the effect of he had to do it in order to get the L lights to work. the bulb socket is different or something

so now my truck has to pass a DMV inspection. i took it in and the ONLY thing now holding me up is that the truck does not have high beams. i can see in the wiring right behind the lights that they were spliced and something was done, but im not sure what.

the previous owner gave me the stock f150 lights but there are no other headlight sockets(?)/connectors that are supposed to be swapped over--if that's what was done.

i need to be able to temporarily undo this so i can pass the test for registration purposes.

anyone know of a how to or know what needs to be done? im kinda lost here. im searching on other forums but not finding anything so far.

thanks in advance!

Got any pics? It will help others out to tell you what's going on.

Sounds to me as if he screw something up with the wiring harnesses....

Again, pics would be great.

I agree. I believe the only difference between the standard F-150 lights, the Lightnings and the Harleys are the housings themselves.

maybe he had a set of projectors on there before he switched to the L's...if so, he might've had to do some rewiring as some of the projectors have 2 bulbs (one low and one high beam) instead of one hi/low bulb like the stockers
