New ford owner needs help

Hi there,

Got a stuip question and nned some one to give me an ID10-T Class.

I just bought an 03 Ford F150 FX4 crewcab Lariat model. Anyway sometimes it seems the $wheel drive works sometimes it doesn't Ie I can hear the transfer engage truck moves at a crawl but front tires don't move.

So I did a search hear I found it could be a number of things. But here is the class I was wondering if some one could give me. What are the steps for putting your truck into 4 wheel drive IE. put into park then move switch or while moving under 5mph move switch. Any and all Instruction will help.

Also about a month after I bought the truck. I noticed that when I cranked it up the RPMs would shoot up to about 1500. Then come all the way down to about 300 it would do this about 3 of 4 times.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why.

I took the truck to a Ford dealership to have it worked on. Well 1400 dollars later truck is still doing the RPM thing. I had them change all the fluids and spark plugs also they had to replace the COP on 1 and 8.

Thanks again for your help.

By the way the truck is a 03 ford f150 FX4 lariat crewcab sportside.

4wd hi all you have to do is turn the switch if you are going less than 45 mph. the slower the better.

4lo you have to stop the truck, put it in neutral, keep a foot on the brake and then turn the switch to 4lo. wait for the clicks and the light then put her back in gear and go.

as far as your idle goes, search IAC or PCV.

Ok So then I more than likely have a problem with the 4 wheel drive. I can get into 4 wheel high when I stop put foot on brake and in N then move back to drive but then I go to low the same way. When I go back from low to hi I lose $wheel drive completely. But eh transfer will still be engaged.
