coil on plug losing my mind
coil on plug losing my mind
Hello everyone,
I have a 2000 f-150 bi-fuel and decided to flush my radiator two weeks ago later that day my check engine light came on misfire #2 and # 3 I pulled the coils off and found a lot of water inside so I found out that one of the houses that goes to the firewall was leaking to I fixed that and took the water out, replaced the spark plugs and cleaned up the coils. I put everything back and it ran fine for like two days and then the check engine light came back on now when I try to take the coils off the bolt that hold them in just turns I've tried Prying, pullind up on the coils and turning the bolt but I've had no luck ...just wondering if anybody has had this happen to them ?? If so how did you take them offf and what do you do once you have them off and want to put it back together again and the bolt just turns and won't tighten up.
Thanks ahead of time for any advice you guys can give me

Sounds like the coolant leak shorted out your coils and you might have overtightened the screws. I would go get replacements then work on getting the stripped ones off. Might have to cut the top off with a dremel or something then use vise grips to unscrew the shaft.
LOL i did the exact thing, on my # 2 hole, so i attempted to cut the head of the bolt off with a dremel about half way through i guess that bolt got a lil hot and melted right out of the coil and the little insert that keeps spinning popped out to cuz it kinda melted that hole too, but becides wreking 1 coil it was not that bad of a deal cuz all i did was epoxy that insert back in the hole and put some antisieze on the bolt and just snug it in a little bit and a buddy had a few coils just laying around, and now i just dont touch it lol
hmmm
I didn't even think about cutting them off gonna try that as a last resort just figured someone might have a trick to getting them off and forgot to ask do you guys think these two coils could be the source of my heater not blowing out hot air just warm air ....problem started at about the same time. Gonna go to ebay and look for some coils
well if your gana cut the bolt head off just take it slow and take lots of breaks cuz i'm not sure if u wana melt it like i did.but u might wana heat it up so u can get that stupid insert out so u can glue it back in.
nice
Good thing I came on here because I was going to cut the coil off where the bolt is so that I could deal with the bolt with more room and install a new coil but ill try the bolt head instead. Thanks for the info on the insert I was just trying to plan ahead and buy everything I would need so I don't have to take several trips to the store ....I don't think the coil is bad I just think I either got more water in there or since the bolt isn't holding it down tight its not making a good connection for the spark ?? Thanks once again
