$850 install seems kind of high. have you called other shops to ask how much they charge?

That's very odd though. I never heard of a kit, that wouldn't work with a 10 inch rim! I KNOW, they recommend 35 inch tires with such lifts. But nothing about rim width! I almost went with a 4 inch Rancho. Then thought hell, I know I'll wanna go higher eventually. So, I got off of being stuck on stupid. An went with the 6 inch. Man, I'm so glad I did! I look at it this way. If your gonna go 4 inch, you might as well go 6 inch! It's only 2 more inch! An for the price, it's freaking worth it!

i was kind of thinking the same thing. if the wheels specs are correct i dont no why a 10" wouldn't work. usually what they recommend is a certain size wheel that will give you no rubbing. you might get slight rubbing if you have 35's. and are you sure you have 15x10's? i thought the smallest wheel size on the 97-03s was 16"

F150 Ram Air- freaking awesome truck!

Whoops, I meant 16x10!!

wandell, I am going to look into the BDS again, and maybe contact them directly. I will ask the shop what the difference in price is going to be. If I go BDS, should I get leaf springs or blocks for the back?

OK, just called BDS. The fellow there said 16x10 will be no problem.....BUT the BDS is seriously more $$. Since there are no complaints with the Fabtech, I may just have to go the route.

Either will work out great. My step has the torsion, blocks and 3" body done with a set of 315/75r16 (mini 35's) on 16x10 rims, rides great and looks good. More economical for a starter lift, unless you gotta have a true six lift then hammer down and get er done son lol.

A local shop (a good shop) told me 2100 for the blocks. Fabtech is like 1600. Are the later model kits cheaper?

I've always been partial to BDS lifts. Carried over from the Jeep world. Their name is at the top, and their kits are top notch. Prices are high as well, but I've never heard any bad things about them. But, if I wasn't so partial, I would go with whoever was cheaper.
Would just steer clear from the 4" rancho though. Heard a lot of bad things.

Three inch pa body lift would look really good .. Ever thought about cranking torsions and putting 1" block in rear

Thanks, it's a handy unit! and tough as nails... gonna pull it this summer and see what it weighs in at and add some extra's to it I hope. It reaks a bit of havick on the stock shocks lol but it works wonders. Just need to add the winch one day.

As for the whole torsion bar trick, don't max them out since in the long run it can be hell on the steering and CV shafts I think mine are up 2" in the front and 2" blocks in the rear with the body lift to top it off. Just my personal experience at this point.
