quick question

ok well im lookin into gettin out of my 2wd and getting a 4x4 truck

my truck is a 99 f150 2wd 4.6L ext cab maroon with tan interior with just over 100k on it right now

now my question is what should i be looking at to be close to an even trade into the same body style truck

i work at a ford dealership and there is a guy that we deal with there who does most of the wholesale stuff and so on

he should be able to find a decent deal somewhere
but i was looking to see what i should be looking into with about an equal value of my truck

i highly doubt you can get even trade, unless the 4x4 has way more miles than yours

you should be able to get a 08' for cheap, since the 09's are out and ford is struggleing.

Not going to get an 08 for anywhere close to an even trade................

Your 99 books in the $4000 to $4500 range, private party, depending on equipment. The identical truck with 4wd books for more than $1000 more than that. Even with 250k miles, a 4wd will book at 300 bucks more than your 2wd with 100k. So, I think you may be lucky to break even on *any* 97 or newer 4wd you find. An identical 97 4wd with 150k books right at the same as your 99.

i agree with str8t six, except, it hasnt been a good time to sell a truck in a while. about a year or so before gas prices were sky high a friend offered me like $7500 for my truck as it sat with everything i had in it too. i didnt want to sell it at the time, so i said no. then right before gas prices went crazy i thought about selling it & he only offered me like $5000. a little while after that i listed it on my local craigslist & best offer i got was like $3000.

but good luck in getting a 4WD, post some pics if you can get something.

I don't think your going to find anything in decent shape for an even trade that's 4X4 but if your in with the dealers,,,you might. But you'll probably end up with an older truck in worse shape then yours.

Trim Level

You could possibly get a truck with the same amount of miles and around the same year, but it's going to depend on the trim level of your truck. If yours is an extended cab with power everything and leather, you may be able to swap it for an XL or XLT model 4x4 with cloth. If you have a regular cab longbed XL right now, good luck on upgrading. The trim level and options of your truck may be able to offset the cost of a baseline (XL) 4x4. That's the only way I see it being close. My .02

i would go newer but im still in school and i cant afford big payments along with all my other bills so im looking to trade as close as possible for my truck
