Where is the best place to buy the new Clutch disc and bearings for a 1998 F-150 4.2L
Do I need to buy the preasure plate too
Clutch works fine right now just throw out bearing is rattling alot.
How hard is it to do i would say I am a pretty good mechanic but never done a clutch before...........

I'd buy a complete clutch kit - pressure plate, disc, throwout bearing/slave cylinder, and pilot shaft bearing/bushing. If you are going to go through the hassle of pulling the tranny out to do it, do the whole thing. Pull the flywheel and send it out for resurfacing too.
I have a Brute Power in mine and I *HATE* it. It chatters like crazy unless I have a load and am towing. If I had it to do over, I would have bought new OEM from Ford.

The slave *should* be part of the throwout bearing. The slave usually blows before the clutch wears out, so it's foolish not to change it when you are in there.
Horrible design. I hate hydraulic clutches to begin with (not adjustable) but I can live with one that has an external slave.

Buy a Chilton or Haynes manual for the truck. They are about 20 bucks.
The slave is available with or without the throwout bearing. Change both unless you enjoy R&R'ing transmissions.
