warranty yes/no?

I just purchased an '05 expy with 57K on it. I can get an extended warranty, but do I really need one?? What do you guys think?
I started this thread on the expy section but I guess that is an area is still a growing forum. I thought I would post it here also.

I have an Expedition as well, with 60K, and no major problems.

My rear differential is "humming", which means it will need the revised pinion gear replacement. I have an extended warranty, so I'm fine with it, and that item alone will pay for my extended warranty.

If you plan on keeping the vehicle for a while, pay the $1,200 - $1,500 for the extended warranty, it's only like $15 a month added to your payment or so.

i personally have had no luck with extended warranty plans. sounds good when they want you to buy, but when time comes for coverage, they look for ways to NOT cover. had one on an old jeep. had a crack in the exhaust manifold (which should have been covered). would make a bad ticking noise until the jeep would warm up. when i try to get them to cover it, they said they wouldn't b/c it needs to be worse where the thing was alsmost broken off....not just a crack. i was pissed.

any being a service manager, our shop will honor extended warranties. every time we work on a claim, half the time they will not cover it and the other half, they say they will, but they will not cover all the repairs. so the customer is also responsible for partial payment & their deductible.

but dont let that discourage you. i have heard of companies that are good & cover their work/policy. i just havent seen any yet.

If someone has any ideas about which company is better, I appreciate your input. Thanks,
