i've always hated the plastic trim on the back of my window. it reminds me of the plastic fender flares on my Wrangler. after a little while they turn light gray and it looks like crap. i didnt want to use any of the "ghetto slime" (silicone dressing, etc) on it since it never last. not that i wash my truck that much either, lol.

so i decided to do what i did on my wrangler.

it's no where near a professional job, but hey....looks better than what it did.

This is not ghetto slime, it's a dye. Works very well and lasts.

oh, i never knew they had anything like that. have you used it? how long does it last. not a bad idea. but i also look at it this way, $13 for that versus $1 for the gloss black spray paint.

i guess im just a creature of old habit too. with the past 2 jeeps i had i painted the flares, so i figured it would work good enough for this too. lol.

I haven't used it, but some guys in the detailing forum have and they really like it.

I hope you used Krylon Fusion for paint. I'm a bit concerned about peeling and flaking.

Looks good man, nice work. Blends in nicely, especially with a black truck.

nope. home depot special. 99 cents for a can. hopefully it will be ok. my jeep flares have held up for about 2.5 years now & dont show any signs of damage. if it does ill look into another paint or just spray it again.

lol. yup. well, some adhesion promoter/primer, 2 coats of primer, 4 coats of gloss black, & 4 coats of clear. again, not perfect/professional, but good enough for me, lol.

My Honeycomb grill was bad faded when I bought my truck so I got a can of black plastic paint and now its black , but all my other stuff is greying fast.. I am just to chicken to paint everything on my truck back black.. Also I am starting to think maybe it was not black... I just dont know.
