Performance upgrades

I know that there's a general list of upgrades that people get when they start to get performance parts for their truck.

So far I have these installed:

Gibson dual exhaust
aFe Cold-Air Intake
Edge Evolution power programmer

I will be getting a pair of JBA shorty headers in within the next couple of weeks. What parts should I get after I get the headers in? I've been told that I'm probably going to need to replace my transmission withing the next year or so.

I have a 1998 F-150 v8 4.6L. My main goal is to transform my truck into a beast of a racing machine. My step-brother that has been working with cars and trucks since he was 7 told me that there are a few F-150's that use the same 4.6 v8 engine block as I do and are able to run 7's and maybe 6's. Of course the guy spent $25,000 on the engine alone to get it that fast, but it's possible. That's where I want to end up eventually.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Going to take a lot more than $25k to get that thing into those kind of time brackets. lol Look into interior performance upgrades if you want real power, not this bolt on stuff. (cams, boring, port/polish heads, etc..) Supercharger, nitrous, both, whatever. You need a lot more work to wake that motor up the way you want to.

but that with a 5.4l supercharged engine.

you will need one HELL of a built engine that will handle a turbo cranking some serious boost toget even CLOSE to that. If its even possible.

Go ahead and strip EVERYTHING off the truck and replace with light weight material like... feathers

Im not an expert on this but im just gonna go out and say that you arent gonna run 6's or 7's with that truck. Hopefully someone will come along that actually knows what he's talking about. Im just a forum idiot.

don't waste your time or $$$ on shorty headers. go for long tubes or stay with the stock manifolds.

you can push a 4.6 into the 6 second zone for the 1/8 mile.

you can add forged internals, a supercharger, ported and polished heads, a good cam, 60# injectors a 325lph in tank fuel pump. Then it'll be time to move onto the transmission and torque converter...

I was actually looking to get a Turbo rather than a Supercharger. I'll ask my brother about the distance he was talking about when he said that truck ran 7's/6's. Also, I was thinking about replacing te engine with something not quite as stock. I've heard good things about an LS7 engine.
