My 255/70/16 P's are rated at 2271# at 35 psi. Considering my rear GAWR is 3500# there's plenty of extra room there.

my gvwr is 6500 lbs according to the sticker. I think with me in the truck it's around 5200 lbs. So that means I'm safe with only 1300 lbs in the back? gimme a break. I hauled a ton of coal today, < 10 miles, but i think I'll cap it at 2000 lbs from this point on.

That's why they are called "1/2 ton" trucks. They are designed to carry half a ton........

no kidding?

what can I expect to put in it without it breaking, that is the question.

1 ton seems ok to me for short trips.

If it hits the bump stops when you are driving, that's too much. If your tires look half flat when aired up to the max, that's too much. People have been overloading trucks since they were invented. There's more than one issue - you mentioned breaking something. There's also driving safety - stopping, steering, sliding, etc.

About a yard and quarter of damp sand, LOTS of squat in the suspension. Skeered me, won't do it again!

the drop hitch on your truck when towing the boat should be flipped over, the trailer should be as parallel to the ground as possible that would also take a lil weight off your tounge, it makes it a lil better balanced, i tow boats over 25 feet 6000 pounds with my truck with a lil squatage haha plus ive had my bed full over the top with 10" Blocks

yeah at the time my drop was too low...however I now have an AAL and bigger tires so it sits right at 18"....notice the disclaimer under the pics. But yes you are right at the time my drop probably should have been flipped the other way.
