Anyone ever get a water leak into your cab?
Anyone ever get a water leak into your cab?
2003 Xlt 4.6L 4x4
I just found a leak running down to the passenger floor from the firewall.
Luckily, I have a rubber floor, so no carpets ruined, but that's the only plus in this situation because...
I HAVE A DANG WATER LEAK IN MY TRUCK.
From inside, looks like a ton of cr$p to remove to locate an entry point.
Should I just powerwash the engine compartment and coat the firewall and wall mounted items with a silicone type treatment?
IDEAS??
ANY??

its either the wire harness entry point behind the kick panel.
or more likely your drip is from the AC evaporator being clogged up and being forced out the top of the box. You need to try and clear the drain tube, located behind the passenger cyl head on the firewall. Wait is the drip only present when you use AC?

I hope its only due to the AC.
I didn't notice if the drip started when the AC was running.
When I started the truck, I noticed a trail of water on the floor, then heard some fluid swish swash as I stopped backing up.
Is there a drip tube outside the truck I can blast air into from my pancake compressor to help clear a blockage?
Or maybe take a wire and slowly poke into a drip tube to unclog?
(hopefully it is only an AC blockage)
Thanks again, nhford
yea a coat hanger, or a large gauge stereo wire 8g or bigger is good. You should go a little over a foot up into it without damaging anything.
Also might pop off the door step entry plastic piece (under door when closed) and vacuum up the water, or you can pull one of the rubber grommets out to help it drain out of the wire cavity. The plastic piece pulls straight up off of the car, and be careful to get all the tabs lined back up when you put it back together.
Oh and there should be a pork chop shaped cover over the drain tube on the firewall. Its kinda a bitch to pop off, try using a long screwdriver to help pop the plastic spine clips up.

typow, prolly need to replace the latch part that pulls the glass snug down onto the rubber seal, either that or the rubber seal has gone flat.
Unless its coming from the 3rd brake light or back window, and runs along the headliner or something like that

Simple fix
I had the same problem 2 years ago (2003 4x4 Reg). After a little investigating, I noticed the condensate tube from the ac (engine compartment, pass. side) was at a bad angle. The dripping condensate was running down the tube into the foam seal at the firewall and soaking the floor over time. I used a 3/4" long cut-off of 1/2 copper plumbing pipe, and twisted onto the nipple at a slight angle. problem solved.
I had the leak too. Actually I probably still do as I ran 9gauge speaker wire up in over 6ft. worth and it still leaked after that. I siliconed (on the inside) to try and stop it and that didn't help.
I got fed up with it and never could fix it, now its trying to get colder so I won't run the AC. Deal with it next summer.

if my truck has been sitting in rain for a while it gets a slight leak behind the seats right infront of the rear glass. hoping it doesnt start to mold or mildew or anything in the ceiling fabrication
