Water leak or condensation?

I have a quick question. I have a 98 F150 Supercab which I bought a couple of weeks ago. I noticed that anytime I turn on the inside air (not even the a/c or max a/c, but anything at all) I get some water leakage afterwards. Yesterday I heard it dripping on something hot (I'm assuming exhaust manis, but it could have been the exhaust pipe or engine itself...) and noticed some water on the ground. My question: does the a/c run no matter what when you turn on the inside air, even if it is the defrost or panel/floor? If so, I won't worry too much about it. I drove this morning without the air on and didn't notice any noise as I got out, but will check again on the way home today.

Any help appreciated.

the compressor runs anytime you turn on the defrost or a/c, at least thats what I think (correct me if I'm wrong!)

if you turn on the vent alone, you shouldn't have any kind of water leaking, as the air coming in is exactly the air that is outside, no cooling or heating is taking place....
