Ok guys I have a 1999 F-150 5.4, auto, 4x4 and I have 2 problems I need help with PLEASE !!!!!



1st Problem If you hold the accelerator pedal to 1500 rpms it drops to 1200 then rises back to 1500 then drops again, and countinues. If you are under acceleration and reach 1500 rpm the truck shutters and bucks then smoothes out after 1500........... What is going on....?


NOTE : It also smells rich in the exhaust. I had a EGR code, so I replaced it but it must have been a seperate issue.



2nd Problem is my ABS light is on, we have replaced the speed sensor, with no luck. The brakes pulsate while applying them. Wore out a pair of rotors and pads in about 6k miles. Replaced the pads and rotors again and now 2k miles later the brakes are already so nasty they give you a headache while stopping.

Here is the kicker, when the brakes are wet, the ABS light DOES NOT come on & the ABS works properly, as soon as it dries out, bing - the light comes on and the brake pedal start pulsating again and no ABS working.

First problem sounds like when one of my C.O.P's died, once one goes, replace all.

Second problem might be the ABS module or another sensor. There's a way of testing resistance on each sensor to see if ones crap. Which one did you replace, the rear diff one? or a front? Hell, might even be a fuse. Ya, I'd say you got a good one there.

 

what codes is it throwing?

I'd replace the pads and rotors and bleed the brake system and check the vacuum source.

as far as the engine sounds like you have a faulty cop, I'd change the COPS and plugs asap along with an air filter

 

Ya, sorry, forgot to suggest the bleeding. Process of elimination.

 

If it was a fuse, would the light come on and go off in relation to moisture? The truck just had a tune up with BG Flush 7000 miles ago. The pad, rotors, and speed sensor on the rear along with a bad caliper on the passenger side was replaced 2000 miles ago.
