Ford to Put One-of-a-Kind Truck On Barrett-Jackson Auction Block to Benefit Diabetes Research Charity
According to news out of Dearborn, Michigan, Ford is set to auction an all-new one-of-one 2017 Ford Raptor for charity at the 46th annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction, which runs through Jan. 22 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Furthermore, lot No. 3004 will be the last vin number for the 2017 production run of the famed off-roader, which will be sold at no reserve.
We’d love to tell you that this is a great chance to get your hands on a unique Raptor, but the hammer price will most likely be stratospheric. Thankfully, 100% of the proceeds will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The JDRF is the country’s leading global organization for type 1 diabetes research. As a result, someone will receive a massive tax write-off thanks to their kindness, and taste for cool trucks.
“The new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is by far the most off-road-capable vehicle on the market today, boasting some of the best performance technology to come from Ford,” says Jim Owens, marketing manager at Ford Performance. “Raptor serves as a testament to our passion for creating vehicles that are designed to tackle the toughest obstacles on earth.”
The Raptor is surely to create a wild atmosphere in Scottsdale, which will be fueled the Ford CEO. Mark Fields and various Raptor design team members will be on stage motivating bidders and TV viewers. In addition, JDRF executives will be on-site to share their organization’s accomplishments.
Speaking of motivation, Fields will announce the launch of Raptor Assault at the Barrett-Jackson event. The adequately-named Ford Performance driving school will be complimentary for all 2017 Raptor buyers. Owners will be responsible for travel and lodging to the venue, but will receive the one-day course for free. During this academy, Raptor owners will receive instruction in off-road driving techniques including rock crawling.
