Tuned EcoBoost F-150 Paints Stripes in the Driveway

F-150 with 500 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque makes short work of the rear tires.

The 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 in the Ford F-150 has been one of the most powerful gasoline engines in the half-ton segment since being introduced, comfortably rivaling the V8-powered competition in terms of real world performance. The truck in the video above from the Ramzes The Raver YouTube channel is powered by the 3.5-liter EcoBoost, but the owner wasn’t happy enough with the stock numbers, so he turned to More Power Tuning for a boost in performance.

The result is a Ford pickup with 500 horsepower, 600 lb-ft of torque and incredible tire-slaying abilities.

The details on the truck in action in the video above are slim, but there are a few things that we know for sure. It is a 2017 Ford F-150, powered by the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 and it has been upgraded with the PR-X 93-octane tune from More Power Tuning. The video details claim that this package lifts the output to 500 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque, but we don’t know if those numbers are at the crankshaft or at the wheels. If those are crankshaft numbers, the tune added 125 horsepower and 130 lb-ft of torque over stock and if those are wheel numbers, the package is adding even more power.

In looking around on the More Power Tuning website, we don’t see any tuning packages that offer those numbers at the wheels with just a tune, so this F-150 might have other upgrades or those numbers listed are at the engine, but in any case, we know that this half-ton F-Series is making quite a bit more power than it did when stock.

All of that extra power surely makes this F-150 quicker and better at towing and haul, but as we see in the video, the Ford is also an incredible burnout machine.

Burnout from Above

The burnout action appears to be captured by someone standing on the roof of the house, shooting down towards the driveway and the 2017 F-150. We see the driver get in and back up a bit, showing us that the truck was running when he got in, but it is so quiet that we couldn’t tell.

Once the truck is where the driver wants it, he climbs into the throttle while holding the brakes, causing the passenger’s side rear tire to begin to spin and smoke like crazy. The driver quickly lets the truck roll forward a bit, as which point the driver’s side tire also begins to spin and create clouds of its own. With both rear tires ablaze, the MPT-tuned F-150 speeds up the driveway, leaving behind a huge cloud of smoke and two dark stripes on the driveway.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
