The grille and bull bar may not be to everyone’s taste, but it does make the truck look distinctive.

No matter what generation, the shape of a Ford truck is unmistakable. You’d be hard-pressed to confuse any Ford truck of any year with a contemporary Chevrolet or a Dodge pickup.

It’s great to drive around in something that’s instantly recognizable, but with a truck as popular as the Ford F-150, it’s only natural that you would want to stand out. Visually, there’s a lot of different ways that you can personalize your truck to suit your own personal tastes, without losing the distinctive look of a Ford pickup.

One member of the r/FordTrucks subreddit, angrymountie, has performed a few small modifications to make his black 2013 F-150 stand out from the crowd. He’s blacked out the wheels and the trim, and filled the lettering on his fender emblems with red paint. In addition, there’s a musclecar-style matte black stripe on the hood.

He’s also installed a small bull bar with a skid plate to protect the front bumper. Combined with the blacked-out trim treatment, it makes the truck look like a purposeful, go-anywhere machine.

We can imagine some top-secret government agency rolling up to Area 51 in a fleet of trucks just like this. However, there’s no fleet – there’s only one like this, and we bet that’s exactly the way that angrymountie likes it.

His most recent modification has been a new grille. While the previous gloss black grille treatment looked nice, the new grille is definitely an upgrade.

The new grille resembles the one found on the high-performance 2013 SVT Raptor. The replica grille shaped a little differently to fit the standard F-150 front end, but it certainly looks the part.

All of the trademark Raptor styling is there, from the large “FORD” lettering to the small positioning lamps on the top. It’s a great fit for angrymountie’s truck.

The Reddit comments seem split 50/50 on whether they like the grille or not. Whenever you’re personalizing your truck, it’s important to remember that you’re making the truck suit your tastes, not anyone else’s.
