Raptor is One of the World’s Biggest Mud Trucks

Raptor F-150 mega mud truck has one of the most elaborate suspension systems we have seen.

Many of the mud trucks that we feature have been heavily modified, but the Ford F-150 Raptor in the video above might be the biggest that we have seen. If nothing else, it has one of the most elaborate suspension systems we have featured, lifting the SVT-designed body high above the pit, helping to make this custom Raptor nearly unstoppable.

This footage comes to us from the Michigan Mud Addicts Spring Bog 2018 via the CarWarz YouTube channel and this is as good of an example as we have seen of a Raptor turned mega mud truck.

There are no details on this Ford mega mud truck, but we can tell plenty just based on what we can see and hear.

While it has a unique roof rack and lacks production bumpers, this Ford mega mud truck appears to have the same body as the first generation Raptor F-150 that you see on your local roads. It even appears to have some factory-style graphics on the side, so if you ignored the cage extending from the bed to the cab along with everything below the body, this looks like an actual Ford F-150 Raptor.

On the other hand, nothing below the production-spec body came from a Ford factory. An elaborate suspension and chassis system has been installed with gigantic coilovers at all four corners. The wheels themselves might be too big to fit in the factory wheel wells, but when you add the massive mud tires, this Raptor needed most of this lift just to make room for all of the rubber.

It is hard to tell for sure, but if we had to guess, we would say that the floor of this F-150 has to be at least six feet off of the ground, with that gap filled with everything needed to create an unstoppable mud machine, including a powerful V8 engine.

Cruising in the Mud

During the course of this three-minute video, the Ford Raptor mega truck makes a handful of runs across the huge, sloppy mud pit. Whether it is in loose mud or deep water, this monstrous F-150 consistently conquers the muck. On one run, the driver goes so far as to let the truck sink a bit, but it still climbs to dry ground without any problem.

At the end of the video, the Raptor is driving directly at the camera and for the first time, it appears to be struggling. However, as it makes it to the shore and turns away from the camera, we can see that it has a little Chevy in tow, so even when pulling the dead weight of another truck, this Ford mega mud truck is unstoppable.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years.
