Hennessey Heritage Edition F-150: 758 Horsepower in Action

By -

Hennessey’s F-150 sounds incredible as it drifts, roasts the tires and roars down the track.

Hennessey Performance recently introduced their Heritage Edition packages for the Ford GT supercar, the Mustang GT and the F-150 with the 5.0-liter V8. Each of these packages adds a unique exterior look and increased performance, but the cars don’t benefit from the optional upgrades as much as the truck does.

To showcase the impressive performance of the Heritage Edition Ford F-150, Hennessey offered up the video above the shop’s YouTube channel, showing the 758-horsepower pickup equipped with the optional Off-Road Package ripping around their test track. Although this truck is built to dominate off-road, it does a fine job of flexing its muscles on their paved test track with the sweet roar of the blown V8.

The 758-Horsepower Beast

The Hennessey Heritage Edition Package is available for the 2018 and 2019 Ford F-150 with the 5.0-liter V8. The Texas tuning shop adds a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger, a Whipple cold air intake kit, an air-to-water intercooler, larger fuel injectors, a “fuel system upgrade”, a stainless steel cat-back exhaust system and the engine tune that lifts the output to a whopping 758 horsepower at the crankshaft. For those wondering, that amounts to about 570 horsepower at the rear wheels.

In addition to the go-fast goodies, the Heritage Edition package also includes the unique racing-inspired graphics shown here, serial plaques under the hood and on the dashboard, Hennessey embroidered headrests and Hennessey exterior badging.

That is the extent of the basic Heritage Edition package for the F-150 and with nothing else, this makes for one eye-catching, tire-shredding half-ton pickup. However, Hennessey also offers option packages that cater to on-road and off-road performance.

Sport and Off-Road Upgrades

If you add the Hennessey Heritage Edition Package to your F-150 and your goal is to create a wicked on-road performance truck, you can opt for the Sport Upgrade package. This adds a lowering kit, unique sway bars, Brembo brakes and 22-inch wheels with low profile performance rubber.

If your goal with the Hennessey Heritage Edition is to raise hell off-road, the company has you covered there as well. In fact, the Off-Road Upgrade (shown in the video) is far more elaborate, beginning on the outside with unique front and rear bumpers, 5-inch LED driving lights, 20-inch wheels, 35-inch Toyo tires and a suspension upgrade that lifts the truck by three inches while also providing a level stance front-to-rear.

Heritage Edition in Action

In the video above, we watch as the Hennessey Heritage Edition Ford F-150 rips around the shop’s test track. The supercharged pickup makes a few hard runs down the straight track, it does a little drifting entering the track and it even pauses for a moment on the track to do a big, nasty burnout.

After cleaning off the rear tires, an inset look at the speedometer allows to watch how quickly this F-150 accelerates from 50 to 100 as the supercharged 5.0-liter V8 provides the best soundtrack possible.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
