Goodnight Sweet V8: Ford Closes Shop on the 4.6-Liter V8

The list goes on. Here are some of the rarer cars the 4.6 found it’s way into over the years:
- Koenigsegg CCR (plus turbos)
- Marcos Mantis
- Panoz Esperante
- Qvale Mangus
- MG X-Power SV-05
Of course, this is just evolution. The mod motor made between 200 to 300 horsepower in it’s various trims, which was fine if performance is the only concern. They compare poorly with modern engines though in both output and miles per gallon. EcoBoost trucks are selling well for a reason, after all. Honestly, the turbo’d 2.7-liter should be able to handle anything the old 2-valve did. Even if it can’t, the 3.5-liter has proven itself capable of V8 level work.
