Trophy Truck: The Ford Raptor Jimco Is an Unstoppable Force Handling Any Terrain. Oh yeah, It’s Pretty Badass-Looking, too

The stock 2017 Ford Raptor isn’t exactly a slouch off-road. In fact, a mostly stock version of the truck survived Baja. The factory version even sports Baja mode, seemingly encouraging high speed off road driving. But the new Raptor Jimco leaves the stocker in the dust (literally).

Officially, the badass beast you see here is called the Jimco Spec Trophy Truck, or Class 6100. Based on Jimco’s Trophy Truck platform, it features an Unlimited Trophy Truck suspension and a Spec V8 engine. Buyers can opt for Ford or Chevy (ugh) power, but obviously that one’s a no brainer.

The awesome looking widebody is crafted from custom fiberglass. It sits on top of a suspension that features full bypass technology and a 4 link in the rear. Wheel travel is 26 inches in the front and 32 inches in the rear — perfect for jumping giant sand dunes.

And you won’t need to worry about stopping thanks to the giant 6-piston braking system.  Steering comes courtesy of a full power rack and pinion setup.  And big old 37-inch BF Goodrich Racing tires sit wrapped around 17-inch beadlock wheels.

Less important (unless you like getting stranded in the desert) is the gas mileage — 2-3 mpg.  Thankfully you’ve got an 80 gallon fuel cell behind you. And even though the Class 6100 sits behind it’s big brother in terms of power, it’s no slouch.

If you want to dip your toe in Trophy Truck Racing, the Jimco Raptor is your ticket. Despite racing on an even playing field, Jimco holds the title of best chassis builder for 21 years running. It’s the kind of dominance you would expect from a truck with a Blue Oval on the front. And it’s a great way to break into some seriously fun racing.
