Ford’s 2014 Ride Ranked Among Fast Lane‘s ‘Top 5 Fun Used Trucks’

Remember the 2014 F-150 Tremor? Ford’s attempt to revive the dying performance truck lasted only one model year. It was a sad and unfortunate end to what was actually a pretty great truck. But now the F-150 Tremor is getting some deserved praise as one of The Fast Lane Truck‘s “Top 5 Most Fun Used Trucks.”

The Ford F-150 Tremor proves a no-brainer for anyone who misses 2wd performance trucks (although it was also offered in 4wd).  A 3.5-liter Ecoboost V6 provides 365 horsepower and a whopping 420 lb-ft of torque. A 4.10 geared rear end provided extra oomph off the line. And with peak torque coming at a low 2,500 rpm, the F-150 Tremor moved quickly off the starting line.

Obviously, the regular cab configuration lays down the best acceleration times due to less weight. The 0-60 takes 6.0 seconds — pretty fast for a 5,000-plus pound truck. The four wheel drive version takes a bit longer at 6.4 seconds. It’s still slower than the last Lightning (5.4 seconds), but it’s heavier and less torquey than its predecessor.

Handling proves a slight step up from the stock F-150 thanks to Pirelli Scorpion tires. But this is still a truck.  Which also means that it still tows up to 8,000 pounds.

The styling touches of the F-150 Tremor are quite nice as well. Its 20-inch black aluminum wheels match the sweeping graphics. Red stitching and silver trim adorns the interior, with color accents in the seats. Overall, the Tremor proves a nice looking package that appeals to the Street Truck crowd.

So while the F-150 Tremor proved a short lived failure on the market, that is a good thing for you.  A short bed pickup with 400+ lb-ft of torque from a turbo motor is never a bad thing.  For the money, it’s hard to find anything better.  Plus, there’s a healthy aftermarket out there to take it to the next level if you so desire.
