Custom Ford F-150 Celebrates Its Michigan Roots

Of the many Ford F-150 special editions we’ve seen over the years, we’ve never seen one that pays tribute to its home state. Until now!

Ford’s roots in the state of Michigan run deep. And the infamous production facility known as the Rouge is still standing, over 100 years since construction began on the what was once the largest integrated factory in the world. The Dearborn-based facility has turned out everything from Model As to boats to Mustangs over the years, but today it produces the legendary Ford F-150 pickup. Suffice to say, the state of Michigan has always played a pivotal role in the automobile as we know it.

So you could say that we’re well overdue for a special edition Ford F-150 that celebrates those deep Michigan roots. Now, Katzkin Leather, producer of custom interiors, aims to fill that void with what they call the Pure Michigan Ford F-150. The new custom pickup is the follow up to last year’s Great Lakes edition F-150, which proved to be a popular choice on Michigan-area dealer lots.

Now, the 77 dealers comprising the Greater Michigan Ford Dealers association get an even more enticing model to show off their hometown pride. The Pure Michigan Ford F-150 sports an attractive gray leather interior with black accents. And, of course, Pure Michigan stitching on the seats, as well as exterior badges.

It’s a subtle touch, but one that’s long overdue. No brand is as synonymous with the state of Michigan than Ford, and no vehicle more important to the state’s economy than the F-150. Plus, Michiganders tend to be the prideful type, embracing minor annoyances like frigid winters and truck-eating potholes. After all, those are small prices to pay to live in such a beautiful state. Especially one responsible for the world’s greatest vehicle! The Pure Michigan Ford F-150 goes on sale state-wide on April 1.
