Choices to Make After Choosing Your 2015 F-150 Trim Package

Choosing a trim package is the first of many choices that a 2015 Ford F-150 buyer has to make. Ford muddied up the options package waters a bit this year by getting rid of five trim packages and merging some of their features into other trims while making other features options that can be added to any trim (XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum) chosen.

Your First Two Choices Are Body Style and Bed Length

All five of the 2015 F-150 trim packages are available in your choice of regular, SuperCab, and SuperCrew cab bodies. The regular body has two doors and a storage area behind the seat. The SuperCab body adds two two-thirds doors that swing open rearward, giving access to a rear seating area and reduced rear storage area.

The SuperCrew gives four full-sized doors and a full-sized storage area behind the rear seat. The upper trim packages have power outlets, cupholders, heating/ventilation ducts in the rear passenger area. Regular and SuperCab-bodied trucks have your choice of eight- or 8.5-foot bed, while the SuperCrew comes with either a five-foot or 5.5-foot bed.

Choose Your Driveline Options

Do you want four- or two-wheel drive? Take your pick- all five trims give you the option. There’s also your choice between a 5.0-liter V8 with Flex-Fuel capability, a 3.5-liter V8 with Eco-Boost, and a 2.7-liter V6 with Eco-Boost for locomotive power. For those that want to get really technical, there’s even a range of axles available.

Other Options Available for 2015

Up to last year, the FX4 sport package was a trim package. Now the FX4 sport package is an optional package that you can add to your truck if you go 4X4. Stowable loading ramps and box side steps are also options available to all buyers, XL to Platinum.

If you know where to look, there’s also a list of more than 15 different wheel designs available for everyone. Some of the safety and luxury tech, such as the Lane Keeping System, can also be added to the other models.
