Best Tonneau Cover for a Ford F-150?

If you’re in the market for a new tonneau cover for your Ford F-150, check out our member recommendations first!

One of the very first things that Ford F-150 owners buy to slap on their shiny new trucks is a tonneau cover. Whether you simply need a mostly weather proof storage space or you want to keep pesky snow out of your bed, buying a good tonneau cover is a no-brainer. But with so many options available, from painted hard covers to easy-folding soft ones, where do you turn? Well, if you’re F-150 Online member M125X, you turn to the forums!

“I have a 2015 Ford F-150 XLT with a 6.5 ft bed. What’s everyone running for a tonneau cover? I’d like something retractable or rolling. Weatherproof would be nice. Not sure how many improvements have been made in recent years along this line. Is there anything out there that is SOLID quality and still won’t break the bank?? I don’t mind paying if it will last!”

As you might imagine, the responses are quite varied. Several members prefer a less expensive folding option like the one made by Bestop.

“I certainly wouldn’t say it’s the best, but I just put a Bestop EZ fold cover on mine,” said hoss66. “It only took about 5 minutes to install and will take even less time to remove if needed. It hasn’t rained since, so I’m not sure how watertight it is. But I’m sure it will work good enough. I got it as an Amazon warehouse deal for $180, so I can’t complain about the price.”

“I’ve been stuck on getting the Trilogy X2T,” adds serotta. “But this is way less money and seems like it might do what I need. I only use it a couple of times a year, so the easy off is very attractive. It just about has to be water tight for my application. I carry two weeks of equipment to the Outer Banks of NC for vacations twice a year. Lots of rain some months.
I just watched the videos of the Bestop EZ fold hard top, very impressed.”
