"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.

TIRE SMOKIN’ 8th Gen Ford F-150’s Gigantic Burnout

TIRE SMOKIN’ 8th Gen Ford F-150’s Gigantic Burnout

This week’s Tire Smokin’ video features an 8th generation Ford F-150 doing a pretty fantastic burnout on a country road. Unfortunately, the burnout has already begun when the video starts and based on the massive amounts of smoke already hiding the rear tires, this F-150 had likely been spinning the tires for at least a […] More »

MUDFEST 9th Generation F-150 Hits the Slop

MUDFEST 9th Generation F-150 Hits the Slop

This week’s Muddy video features an obviously heavily modified Ford F-150 that looks to me to be a 9th generation (1992-1996) storming through a pretty epic mud bog. The video starts off a little slow as the cameraman just seems to focus on a cluster of shrubs off in the distance and while you can […] More »

Should Ford Offer the 6.2L SVT V8 in the 2015 F-150?

Should Ford Offer the 6.2L SVT V8 in the 2015 F-150?

While the 2015 Ford F-150 will likely be the most efficient and the most capable half ton Ford truck ever, it will likely not be the most powerful (at least not at first) due to the fact that the 6.2L SVT V8 from the 2014 F-150 has been removed from the lineup. In an effort […] More »

THROWBACK VIDEO 1953 Ford F100 Commercial

For this week’s Throwback piece, we are going way, way back – with a look at the television commercial for the 1953 Ford F100. While the video quality of the 1953 Ford commercial is questionable, everyone should keep in mind that this commercial was filmed more than 60 years ago. However, quality aside, the content […] More »

This week’s Truckin Fast video features a 2007 Ford F-150 turned Saleen S331 supertruck, which has been fitted with a 440 horsepower upgrade package from JDM Engineering and a whole lot of stickers to make one wicked high performance half ton pickup. TIRE SMOKIN’ Tuned EcoBoost F-150 is Dyn-o-mite!

TIRE SMOKIN’ Tuned EcoBoost F-150 is Dyn-o-mite!

This week’s Tire Smokin’ video features a lightly modified 2011 Ford F-150 pickup powered by the popular 3.5L EcoBoost twin turbo V6. I have learned that a stock EcoBoost F-150 can easily spin the rear tires, but this video shows what happens when you send a touch more power to the wheels while keeping the […] More »

Question of the Week: Should Ford Bring Back the Tremor?

Question of the Week: Should Ford Bring Back the Tremor?

The 2015 Ford F-150 will be offered in five initial trimlines – XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum – while also coming with some special equipment groups including Sport, Chrome and the FX4 package. What has sadly not been carried over from 2014 to 2015 is the Tremor package, which put the 3.5L EcoBoost […] More »
