Ford: 2017 Raptor Shocks are the Most Capable Factory Shocks

While most of us gear heads tent to focus on engines, transmissions, and other power aspects of a vehicles, we often forget that suspensions play a vital role in applying engine power to the ground in a controllable manner.

When it comes to putting the power down, Ford says the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor won’t have any problems doing so, thanks to its 3.0 inch FOX shocks. The new shocks were developed jointly between FOX and Ford, and are said to offer up to 2 inches more of suspension travel than the previous generation Raptor.

The new shocks feature a unique 9 zone system which manages shock forces and adapts to conditions. For example, the first couple of zones are designed for comfortable highway driving, while toward the mid-range and  top range of the shock the piston compresses and acts as a bump stop to prevent the Raptor from bottoming out. There’s no word yet if ride height or suspension setting will be controllable via onboard electronics.

As it sits right now, the second generation off-roader will feature 13.0 inches of suspension travel at the front and 13.9 inches at the rear. Should be enough to have fun, no?
