2015 F-150 Out Drags Mustang 5.0 at the Strip

As truck guys, one of our favorite topics to discuss is usually the “good old days.”  We wax nostalgic about how great trucks used to be, propping them up on a pedestal so high you’d think that everyone would be eschewing their modern rides for old trucks.

We tend to forget that old trucks are slower, noisier, rougher riding, less safe, less fuel efficient, and less reliable than new trucks.  Technology, as they say, is a wonderful thing.  Sure they cost a whole lot more, at least in today’s dollars, but that’s the price of progress.

New trucks, in fact, are considerably faster than old ones, and get considerably better gas mileage to boot.  They are so much faster, in fact, that a new F-150 (with either the Coyote or Ecoboost motor) is capable of running a quarter mile time that would embarrass not just older trucks, but a lot of old muscle cars.

This video demonstrates just that – a 2015 model truck handily beating a mid 80’s 5.0 Mustang. Granted, this Mustang can be made quite fast with some mods, but so can the truck.  So the next time somebody babbles on about the “good old days,” show them this video.  What a great time to be alive, indeed.
